Abstract

This article explores the influence of recommendation algorithms on digital lives and the protection of our fundamental rights, focusing on the principle of autonomy. It scrutinizes how these algorithms shape our decisions and preferences on digital platforms, and how this affects our ability to make free and autonomous choices. Ethical and legal challenges are discussed, including the opacity of algorithms and the massive collection of personal data. It argues that effective protection of fundamental rights requires a comprehensive approach that combines education, transparency, and state regulation to ensure that digital technology strengthens individual rights rather than undermining them
